Our event

Be part of a once-in-a-lifetime photographic expedition to capture the total solar eclipse of August 2, 2027, from one of the best places on Earth to witness it: the southern coast of Andalusia, on the edge of the Strait of Gibraltar. Over eight days you will travel through the great cities of southern Spain (Granada, Córdoba, Seville, and Ronda), photograph their light and architecture, meet the wildlife of the Strait, and prepare, step by step, to photograph totality with expert guidance at your side. This is the longest total solar eclipse visible from land in over three decades, and you will be inside the path of totality when the Sun goes dark.

ABOUT THE ECLIPSE

The Eclipse

On August 2, 2027, the Moon will pass exactly between the Earth and the Sun, covering the solar disk completely and plunging a narrow strip of southern Spain into daytime darkness. This band of totality crosses almost the entire province of Cádiz and part of Málaga, sweeping west to east through the Strait of Gibraltar. Totality, the moment when the Moon fully hides the Sun, is the highlight of the whole event and the only time you can see the solar corona, the Sun’s faint and mysterious outer atmosphere, with the naked eye.

Unlike most eclipses, this one happens in the morning, at around 10:47 local time, with the Sun high in the sky. That means comfortable, spectacular viewing and ideal conditions for photography.

OUR VIEWPOINT

Strait of Gibraltar

Our viewing zone sits on the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, close to the centre line of the eclipse, where totality lasts well over four minutes. Most of Spain sees only a partial eclipse; a few kilometres north of here, totality is cut to seconds.

Early August in southern Andalusia has one of the highest probabilities of clear skies in Europe. Africa sits across the water, the horizon opens over the sea, and the light in this corner of the continent is unlike anywhere else. It is one of the finest places on the planet to photograph the 2027 eclipse.
